Northwest Mosquito Abatement District uses the programs below to target different disease-borne and nuisance mosquitoes, creating a well-rounded mosquito management plan for the Northwest Suburbs of Cook County.
Daytime Larvicide
Control of mosquito larvae in swamps, ditches, ponds, and other open containers of water.
Adulticide (night spray)
Control of adult mosquitoes around forest preserves and residential areas.

NPDES Permit
Northwest Mosquito Abatement District applies for a NPDES permit every three years. The permit allows NWMAD to implement a larvicide plan to control the mosquito population.
